Some argue Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint is the greatest manhua/webtoon there is. That was clearly visible when it started dominating reading platforms. The series pulled readers into a brutal apocalypse with constant action, mystery and edge of the seat exprence.
So, naturally, the Omniscient Reader anime adaptation was very much welcomed by the anime community. We fans began asking the same questions. Is the anime real? When will it be released? Is there a trailer? This post answers all those questions with the latest confirmed information.
Is the Omniscient Reader Anime Officially Confirmed?
Yes, the Omniscient Reader anime is officially confirmed. The announcement came from Aniplex on July 7, 2024. The company stated that the webtoon “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint” would receive a TV anime adaptation. The announcement also launched the official teaser website, where the project is labelled “TV animation project started.”
Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint began as a Korean web novel written by singNsong. The story later received a webtoon adaptation illustrated by Sleepy-C (3B2S) with the script adapted by UMI from REDICE STUDIO. By April 2024, the series had already passed 1.68 billion cumulative views worldwide. That’s why the Omniscient Reader Anime adaptation has so much hype around it.

Omniscient Reader Anime Release Date: When Is It Coming Out?
As of now, the Omniscient Reader anime does not have an official release date. The project was announced during Anime Expo 2024. Aniplex and Crunchyroll confirmed the Omniscient Reader anime adaptation. But since then, the anime has been in production and taking its time.
Large TV anime adaptations usually take several years of production after the first announcement. Because of that, a possible window for the Omniscient Reader anime adaptation could be around 2027 or later. That also depends on how the production schedule moves and when the studio begins the promotional phase.

Is There Any Trailer or Teaser for the Omniscient Reader Anime?

Crunchyroll shared the footage publicly under the title “Omniscient Reader | Official Trailer.” At the same time, some promotional posts were also released.
The teaser mainly works as an announcement video. Most of the footage shows webtoon panels and promotional visuals flashing on screen. The key visual features Kim Dokja in the foreground, with Yoo Joonghyuk standing behind him.
The teaser came directly from the Anime Expo 2024 announcement and the official YouTube handle of Crunchyroll.
What Is the Story of Omniscient Reader About?

The story of Omniscient Reader follows Kim Dokja, an ordinary office worker whose main hobby is reading a long web novel titled “Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse.” The strange part is that almost nobody reads this novel. Dokja ends up becoming the only reader who follows the story all the way to the final chapter, which means he knows every major event in that story.
During a normal subway commute, the fictional story suddenly becomes reality. The world around Dokja turns into the same brutal survival system described in the novel. People are forced into deadly “scenarios” where monsters appear, rules are imposed, and survival depends on completing dangerous tasks or dying.
Dokja remembers the disasters, the betrayals, and the characters who will appear later. Dokja uses his knowledge of the plot to survive and change the future. That idea forms the core of the series: Omniscient Reader Viewpoint. Any more will spoil too much, so let’s stop here.
Where Will the Omniscient Reader Anime Be Available to Watch?
Right now, Crunchyroll is the only officially connected streaming platform for the Omniscient Reader anime. When the anime project was announced in July 2024, Crunchyroll described the adaptation as a new production revealed through Aniplex and Crunchyroll.
Because of that announcement, the safest expectation is that Crunchyroll will stream the Omniscient Reader anime when it premieres. At the moment, however, several important details are still missing.
The anime also does not have a simulcast schedule, episode rollout plan, or dub release timeline announced so far.
