Rem’s story takes a painful turn at the end of Season 1 and the beginning of Season 2. During a battle with the Sin Archbishops, Rem was attacked by Lye Batenkaitos, the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony. When Season 3 ends, Rem is still in a coma. Nothing changes in the anime. She does not wake up. No one remembers her. Subaru still carries her body with him, hoping for a way to bring her back.

But in the light novel, her story goes a bit further. After Lye Batenkaitos is killed in Arc 6, Rem finally wakes up. However, she does not get her memories back right away. She suffers from amnesia and does not remember Subaru or her past life.

Even though she is awake, she is not the same. Her journey is not over yet. The author, Tappei Nagatsuki, confirmed that Re: Zero will end on a happy note.

Rem’s Relationship with Subaru So Far
