The Eminence in Shadow Season 3 Release Date

The Eminence in Shadow Season 1 originally aired from October 5, 2022, to February 15, 2023. The last installment of the series “The Eminence in Shadow Season 2” ended its airing on December 20, 2023. After its ending, the official production committee announced a movie called “The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes” on December 21, 2023, which is set to continue the story as the next installment of the franchise.

As per Season 3, its release hasn’t been officially confirmed yet. Right now, only the movie has been officially announced, and there has been no formal statement regarding a third season.

Looking at past timelines, there was not a full one-year gap between Seasons 1 and 2. It was roughly eight months between the February 2023 finale and the October 2023 return. Since the movie currently has no confirmed release date, Season 3 will realistically depend on when the film premieres. If the movie releases sometime in 2026, a reasonable prediction for Season 3 would shift to late 2027.

The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes Release Date

Eminence in Shadow Movie

In May 2024, we finally got a teaser for The Eminence in Shadow: Lost Echoes. It shows Cid standing in a destroyed city in what appears to be a ruined modern Japan setting. The movie is officially titled Zankyō-hen in Japanese. The same team is working on it—Kazuya Nakanishi is directing again, and Kanichi Kato is writing the script.

From what was shown and based on the current story progression, the movie is widely expected to adapt the Earth arc from Volume 4, where Cid returns to modern Japan while Shadow Garden remains in the other world. There is still no official release date announced. The teaser was revealed through official franchise channels, confirming that the film is in production.

If we follow the production gap between previous instalments and consider that no date has been locked yet, a realistic expectation would be Late 2026. Nothing is officially confirmed at this stage.

How Much Material Is Left for Lost Echoes and Season 3?

Material Is Left for Lost Echoes and Season 3

Till now, the anime has already covered Volumes 1 to 3 in Season 1 and most of Volume 4 in Season 2. But the Earth arc—where Cid returns to modern Japan—was not fully adapted. That is what Lost Echoes will most likely cover. So you can say, the movie will finish off the remaining part of Volume 4.

After that, the story moves into Volume 5 and beyond. As of now, the light novel has 7 main volumes officially released, with Volume 7 scheduled for release in 2026. There has been no official confirmation about the final planned volume count, so long-term numbers like Volume 15 remain speculative.

If The Eminence in Shadow Season 3 happens after the movie, it will probably start from Volume 5. Depending on the pace, Season 3 can cover Volume 5 and maybe Volume 6 too. But nothing is confirmed. Still, looking at how the anime adapts roughly one volume per cour, the next few arcs are already positioned for adaptation.

So yes, there is plenty of material left for The Eminence in Shadow Season 3 and even beyond that—enough to keep Shadow Garden in action for years.

Recap of The Eminence in Shadow Season 1 and 2

“In Season 1 of ‘The Eminence in Shadow,” we follow the journey of Cid Kagenou. Wrapping it up

In the end “The Eminence in Shadow” may not be a one-of-a-kind narrative. It revolves around a reincarnated overpowered main character, who possesses unparalleled coolness. It is a theme seen in various anime.

However, what sets this series apart is its exceptional ability to make the familiar concept compelling and engaging. The storyline does a very good job at one point, and we could connect with the MC’s desire for fame and coolness.
