Can Rimuru Tempest Beat Son Goku? | Rimuru vs Goku: Who Would Win and Why

Can Rimuru Tempest Beat Son Goku Rimuru vs Goku Who Would Win and Why

Can Rimuru Tempest Beat Son Goku? This is a very hot topic with many arguing with many types of forms of Goku and situations in mind. This discussion is very common in Reddit, X, YouTube, Insta everywhere. Fans of Reincarnated as a Slime and Dragon Ball both bring strong arguments. One side has Rimuru Tempest with a very versatile skill set. The other side has Son Goku, who is so strong that he now only fights god-level opponents. So let’s see Rimuru vs Goku: Who Would Win and Why.

Disclaimer: We are comparing peak manga Goku vs peak light novel Rimuru. We are also assuming their base powers can affect each other across universes. This kind of comparison can feel opinionated for some fans because Rimuru has a lot of theoretical skills, which he never uses, or the information sometimes contradicts.

Goku’s True Ultra Instinct Gives Him a Combat Edge Rimuru Cannot Ignore

Goku's Ture Ultra Instinct vs Rimuru

The strongest cannon version of Goku is True Ultra Instinct, which is the final form of Ultra Instinct he develops after Dragon Ball Super. Ultra Instinct is a divine combat technique that lets Goku’s body react automatically without conscious thought. During the Tournament of Power, he first awakened the incomplete version while fighting Jiren, a warrior stronger than Universe 11’s God of Destruction. That early stage of Ultra Instinct was enough for him to dodge any and all attacks.

Later arcs showed the tequinque evolving. During the Granolah arc, Goku refined the ability through training with Whis and awakened True Ultra Instinct. At this point, Goku removed all its side effects, like not being in control or being in an emotionless state.

Against Rimuru, this will work. It’s because Rimuru’s system normally studies enemies through ultimate skill Cial and plans an attack or defence. Ultra Instinct makes any kind of analysis meaningless because Goku does not have any movement patterns in this state.

For speed, Rimuru should be able to match it, maybe….It’s hard to compare because the peak Rimuru has control over time. By which he can stop the time to react. Still, speed-wise, Goku would win because there was a character, “Hit” from Universe 6, who was using time stop and another pocket dimension to fight Goku. Goku still own without Ultra Instinct.

Rimuru’s Absorption Ability Turns Goku’s Power Against Him

Rimuru’s Absorption Ability Turns Goku’s Power Against Him

Rimuru’s greatest advantage is his absorption and analysis system. From the beginning, he used abilities such as Predator and Great Sage to swallow enemies and analyse them internally. This is how he gained most of his abilities. This only gets more and more powerful as the series goes on.

As Rimuru evolves, Predator evolves into Gluttony, and later into the Ultimate Skill Beelzebuth. This even goes further; this skill evolves into Void God Azathoth. It can swallow the target whole and process it inside Rimuru’s inner world. Once absorbed It turns into usable energy and stored power.

In a fight with Goku, although Rimuru will not be able to copy any skills because Goku does not use Magicules to perform his skills. That is not the same for the Goku energy attacks. Rimuru will be able to absorb some attacks like Kamehameha or spirit attacks.

There is also another angle to it. Can Rimuru absorb attacks with enough energy to destroy planetary systems or the universe? Don’t get me wrong, I know there are claims where Rimuru can create and destroy worlds. But that is a skill, and Rimuru will not use his Magicules to destroy a world with brute force.

We don’t have any answer because Rimuru never fought with someone similar. Ah…. at the very least, Rimuru will be able to withstand basic energy attacks and fight back.

Goku’s Speed and Instant Transmission Can Outsmart Rimuru Early

Goku’s Speed and Instant Transmission Can Outsmart Rimuru Early

Even before Ultra Instinct enters the picture, Goku’s speed will be a major factor. Dragon Ball repeatedly shows Goku improving speed throughout the series. Goku has a technique, Instant Transmission, which gives Goku teleportation. We have seen Goku coming form Bearus’s planet to Earth instantly.

Instant Transmission allows Goku to lock onto a ki signature and teleport instantly to that location. He uses this ability creatively in combat, appearing behind opponents or repositioning instantly during attacks.

Against Rimuru, this speed advantage shapes the early phase of the fight. Rimuru’s analysis abilities need time to process information about an opponent. Goku’s teleportation and rapid movement can create early openings. Rimuru’s Spatial Domination can eventually match teleportation. But you can definitely expect a Kamehameha point-blank behind Rimuru.

Rimuru’s Ultimate Skills Break the Rules of a Normal Battle

Rimuru’s Ultimate Skills Break the Rules of a Normal Battle

Peak light novel Rimuru fights with a completely different level of abilities. The key names here are Ciel, Azathoth, and Shub‑Niggurath. Ciel handles battle analysis and skill management at an extreme level of speed, constantly processing information during combat.

Azathoth gives Rimuru terrifying absorption power through abilities like Soul Gluttony and the storage dimension Imaginary Space. This means attacks, energy, or even abilities can be contained and converted instead of simply blocked.

Shub‑Niggurath manages Rimuru’s massive library of powers, letting him control and deploy abilities far more efficiently. Goku’s Ultra Instinct helps him react instantly, but Rimuru’s Ultimate Skills can be very effective counter to all of Goku’s attacks.

Goku’s Raw Destructive Power Still Hits Harder Than Rimuru

Another major factor in this matchup is Goku’s destructive power. Dragon Ball repeatedly shows him fighting opponents capable of destroying planets and entire worlds. During the Battle of Gods, Goku reaches Super Saiyan God and clashes with Beerus, a God of Destruction whose finger can destroy a planet.

Later arcs push the scale even further. During the Tournament of Power, Goku fought with Jiren create shockwaves across the arena, and Jiren himself is described as stronger than the God of Destruction of Universe 11.

Against Rimuru, this destructive power definitely matters. Even if Rimuru survives through regeneration and barriers, Goku’s god‑level power ensures that every direct clash carries massive destructive pressure.

Rimuru’s Regeneration and Near-Immortality Make Him Extremely Hard to Kill

Rimuru’s Regeneration and Near-Immortality Make Him Extremely Hard to Kill

Rimuru’s durability becomes extraordinary after he evolves into a True Demon Lord. At this stage he transforms into a Demon Slime, a being capable of switching between material and spiritual existence. Damage to his physical body does not necessarily defeat him because deeper layers of his being remain intact.

Rimuru also possesses powerful defensive tools. Uriel’s Universal Barrier can block incoming attacks, and his regeneration abilities allow him to recover from catastrophic damage. Some descriptions of his powers even explain that multiple layers of his body, such as spiritual and astral forms, can regenerate if enough energy remains.

This durability changes the dynamic against Goku. Even if Goku lands devastating attacks using Ultra Instinct speed and power, defeating Rimuru quickly becomes difficult. The battle could extend much longer than a normal Dragon Ball fight because Rimuru can rebuild himself and continue fighting.

Goku has a lot of Battle Instinct and Martial Arts Experience

Goku has a lot of Battle Instinct and Martial Arts Experience

Another advantage on Goku’s side is his battle instinct and martial arts experience. His training began under Master Roshi, where he learned discipline, technique, and the foundations of combat. Later mentors such as Kami, King Kai, and Whis continued to sharpen his fighting ability.

Over time, Goku fought opponents with wildly different abilities. Fighters such as Hit, Jiren, Granolah, and Gas forced him to adapt to unfamiliar powers during battle. This constant exposure to unpredictable opponents shaped his instinctive decision‑making in combat.

Against Rimuru, this experience becomes valuable. Rimuru’s powers involve analysis, law manipulation, and battlefield control. Goku is very dumb to understand those systems immediately, but he has a lot of exprience on adapting in real time. Combined with True Ultra Instinct, this instinctive combat sense will be helpful to Goku.

Rimuru’s Reality-Bending Abilities Can Flip the Entire Fight

Despite Goku’s advantages, Rimuru still possesses abilities that can dramatically change the battle. The Ultimate Skill Uriel includes authorities such as Law Manipulation and Spatial Domination, allowing Rimuru to influence the structure of the battlefield itself.

Spatial Domination lets Rimuru move instantly between locations and control the space around him. Combined with his analytical abilities through Ciel, Rimuru can adjust tactics based on what he learns during the fight.

Goku is a Better Written Character Than Rimuru

If you look at their stories instead of only their abilities, Goku feels like the stronger character in a narrative sense. Goku’s growth comes from constant struggle. From the beginning of Dragon Ball, he keeps losing fights, training harder, and breaking his own limits. He trains under Master Roshi, then Kami, then King Kai, then Whis, and every step comes after a wall he could not cross before. Still, now he has people to cross and defeat like Whis, Lord Bearus, and Zeno.

Rimuru’s story works very differently. Rimuru becomes powerful extremely fast. His skills evolve through systems like Great Sage, Raphael, and Beelzebuth, and many of his upgrades happen through evolution rather than long struggles. He still faces enemies, but his growth usually comes from gaining new abilities rather than surviving repeated defeats and training arcs like Goku.

Because of that difference, many fans feel Goku’s strength is more “earned”. His power is built through years of training, losses, and new challenges. Rimuru becomes unbelievably strong, but the journey to that strength is very different from Goku’s path.

Why Goku Is Stronger Than Rimuru in a Sense

Rimuru wins this matchup mainly because of how the Tensura power system works. His world focuses on absorption, evolution, and Ultimate Skills. Once Rimuru reaches the top of that system and becomes the strongest existence in that world, there is very little above him.

Goku’s world works in the opposite direction. Every time Goku reaches a new level, a new ceiling appears. First he becomes the strongest on Earth. Then enemies arrive from space. Then he fights the strongest beings in the universe, and later battles opponents across multiple universes.

Because of this constant escalation, Goku keeps breaking limit after limit. His strength compounds over time through training and experience. So if someone simply compares Rimuru’s Magicules with Goku’s Godly ki, arguably, Goku might actually be stronger.

Can Rimuru Tempest Beat Son Goku?

Can Rimuru Tempest Beat Son Goku?

Yes. At their absolute peak, Rimuru Tempest is the more likely winner. When we compare peak light novel Rimuru with True Ultra Instinct Goku, the biggest difference comes from how their power systems work. If we go with basics like experience, speed, and power, Goku is by far a winner. But Rimuru can use some broken abilities that can analyse, absorb, regenerate, and manipulate the battlefield itself.

Now, as a Goku fan, this may feel a little unfair, but look at the mechanics of the fight. If Goku fires a Kamehameha strong enough to destroy a Universe, Rimuru will absorb it. Rimuru have every answer to all of Goku’s attacks with his skills like Ciel, Azathoth, and Shub-Niggurath. That means faster analysis, stronger absorption, better skill control, and stronger defence through things like Spacetime Domination and Multidimensional Barrier.

Over a longer fight, Goku will never be able to give a fetal damage to Rimuru. Ciel will keep analysing. Azathoth will give Rimuru much stronger absorption through Soul Gluttony and storage through Imaginary Space. Shub-Niggurath controls the huge skill bank Rimuru has built up. It’s so unfair that there is no point in comparison; it’s like Goku fighting zeno who does not know how to fight but can kill Goku with a thought.

Final thoughts

At the same time, debates like this always come with a limitation. Rimuru Tempest and Son Goku belong to completely different universes. Their worlds follow different rules, power systems, and scaling methods. Because of that, any comparison between them will always remain partly theoretical.

Still, these discussions are part of the fun of anime fandom. Every fan reads feats in a different way and builds their own interpretation of the battle.

So now the question goes to you.
Do you think Rimuru Tempest can defeat Son Goku, or does Goku still take the win in the end?
