We fans have seen Luffy do many impossible things, from punching a Celestial Dragon to making the entire world his enemy. He even became an emperor of the sea. But when it comes to love? Ahh…. Luffy has no clue to begin with.
No kisses, no confessions, no one on his ship even brings it up. But what can we do? We are fans of Luffy, and we desperately want to know. Who does Luffy end up with?
Let’s just go through all the options and see who that lucky girl is, or might be.
Luffy and Nami: Hat & Money

The first girl Luffy had a decent contact with was Nami. They go way back to East Blue in the early series. And that’s a given that they are close.
In the introduction arc of Nami Back in Episode 37, when Nezumi steals her hard-earned 100 million Berries meant to free Cocoyasi. She cries and begs Luffy for help. He does not give a speech and gives us an iconic scene we fans will always remember. He simply puts his precious straw hat on her head, then walks to Arlong Park with his crew. The scene is from Chapter 81: “Tears,”.
Unfortunately, though, Nami never saw Luffy as a romantic interest. She was more like a big sister and a very loyal, close friend.
Boa Hancock’s On-Screen Moments With Luffy

Unlike Nami, Boa Hancock was very straightforward about her love for Luffy. At this point every time they meet, Boa openly blushes and does weird things like a mad Lover.
Hancock appears in Episode 409 when Luffy lands on Amazon Lily. She first sees him as a threat, but Luffy treats her with no fear and no flattery. He wins over her respect during his standoff with the Boa Sisters. Then, in Episode 416, he declares he must go save Ace, and Hancock decides to help him.
She hides Luffy on her ship, fools the Marines, and smuggles him into Impel Down (Episodes 422–423). Later at Marineford, Hancock shields him again and secretly gives him the key to Ace’s handcuffs a moment that leads to a short hug that leaves her blushing.
Even after the time skip, when the story returns to Amazon Lily in Episode 1087, we could still see her openly showing affection to Luffy. But the relationship stays one-sided. Hancock gives everything. Luffy accepts her help, but never gives a romantic reply. Luffy is just Dumb,…..sadly.

Robin and Luffy: Trust Scenes

Robin’s story with Luffy is about trust without question. When she joins the crew after Alabasta (Episode 130), Luffy accepts her without asking anything. No backstory. No explanation. That silence becomes a powerful promise: you are safe here.
But in Water 7, that promise is tested. Robin disappears. Iceburg says she tried to kill him. Still, Luffy wants to find her. No proof. Just trust.
This leads to Enies Lobby. In Episode 278, Luffy tells Sogeking (Usopp) to shoot the World Government flag. Damn, that scene still gives me goosebumps. Like saying we will fight the world for you. Robin finally breaks. She screams, with a crying, tearful face, “I want to live!”
Again, like Nami, there is nothing between Luffy and Robin. Just complete loyalty and trust.
Vivi, Reiju, Rebecca, Yamato: Do Any Clues Point to an Endgame?
Many other characters care about Luffy. Some saved him. Some traveled with him. Some said goodbye.
Vivi had one of the oldest bonds. She left the crew in Episode 129. That goodbye—where the crew raises their arms with the X-mark—is one of the most emotional farewells in the story.
Reiju gave Luffy the “kiss of life” in Episode 785 when he was poisoned. That scene could have done something. But the story treats it like a medical act.
Rebecca offered kindness in Dressrosa. She bought Luffy lunch and stayed beside him in the Colosseum Arc. Later, she helped in the plan to stop Doflamingo. But her bond is more like an ally than a love interest.
Yamato gets close. Luffy frees Yamato from Kaido’s cuffs in Episode 995. They fight on the same side. Luffy even says Yamato can join the crew. But Yamato stays behind.
Who Does Luffy End Up With in One Piece?

No, Luffy has not ended up with anyone in the manga or anime. The closest in terms of Love interest is Boa Hancock. She openly loves Luffy one-sidedly and might end up with Luffy at the end of the series.
Based on what Oda has said, he might never. The clearest answer comes from the SBS of Volume 34. A fan asked if anyone in Luffy’s crew would fall in love. Oda replied, “They’re all in love… WITH ADVENTURE.” That one line has stayed true for 20 years.
In a 2009 Q&A (VIZ Shonen Jump #84), Oda again said One Piece is not a romance story. That is why he avoids romantic pairings, especially among the Straw Hats. He explained that the series is meant for shōnen readers—young boys—so romance is not a focus.
Even in 2022, Oda repeated this idea during a public talk with Gosho Aoyama (creator of Detective Conan). He said he is okay with one-sided feelings, but avoids showing mutual love because it might make fans lose interest in both characters.
Netflix’s live-action series followed the same rule. According to co-showrunner Steven Maeda, Oda gave them a strict no on romance between Straw Hats. That was non-negotiable.
Final Thoughts
Fans still talk. Fans still guess. Fans still draw ships and write theories. And that is part of the fun. One Piece gives us deep bonds, emotional arcs, and scenes full of feeling. You can read them as friendship. Or maybe, something more.
But as of now Luffy has no canon partner. No ship has sailed. Oda made sure of that.
Now here is the real question: who do you think Luffy should end up with? Nami? Hancock? Nobody? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
